April 2004
The world tour of Michael Rogatchiâs paintings, called Dream, Memory, Love, began in Poland.
The Auschwitz Jewish Center in OĹwiÄcim was among the first venues to welcome the exhibition organized in time for the annual March of the Living pilgrimages to Auschwitz established to honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. The Rogatchi exhibition is a series of dreamlike paintings expressing the artistâs relationship to Judaism and the Holocaust. âThe Jewish theme is key to my work,â he writes. âOutside this context, I could not imagine myself as an artist or even as a person.â
After appearing in various Eastern European cities during the spring and summer, the exhibition was shown in Israel as part of an intercultural program between the Baltic States, Finland and Israel.
