American Service Academies Program (ASAP)
Future military leaders from the West Point Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy’s Honors Program are invited to take part in an intensive, three-week program dedicated to the study of the Holocaust and the events leading up to it.

- To help future military leaders understand the ongoing relevance of the Holocaust to their work; and
- To inspire and empower them to share their insights and understanding with others.
Graduates of ASAP will gain an elevated understanding of the Holocaust as well as the importance of personal and institutional ethical and moral behavior. They will also gain a better understanding of the precarious nature of freedom and come away with a renewed sense of purpose and pride in America's commitment to applying the lessons of the past to the dilemmas of the present.
The program agenda includes:
- An orientation in Washington, DC and in New York City. Destinations include the U.S. Holocaust Museum, the State Department and Pentagon, the Polish Embassy, and the Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. Participants will be briefed by Polish and American officials.
- Two and a half weeks in Poland. Participants will visit Warsaw, Krakow, Oswiecim/Auschwitz, and various destinations in south - east Poland (formerly known as Galicia) incl the former German Nazi death camp of Belzec
- Reception at the U.S. Embassy.
- Visits to Poland’s historic Jewish sites.
- Meetings with Holocaust survivors and workshops with journalists and historians.
- Study at Krakow’s Jagiellonian University under the direction of world-renowned scholars of Polish-Jewish history.
- Guided visits and seminars at the Auschwitz-Birkenau camps.
- The creation of a final paper on one of the themes covered during the program.
- Following the program, participants are expected to share their experiences with fellow cadets and peers in the Academies.
Meals, lodging, and transportation are provided by the AJC.
