About Love and Death by Tova Berlinski
TOVA BERLINSKI was born in Oswiecim in 1915 as Gusta Wolf. She is the daughter of Samuel and Gizela née Horowitz. She emigrated to Palestine in 1938. She studied at the Bezalel Academy of Fine Arts in Jerusalem and in Paris under Andre Lhote and Henri Goetz. In the 1940’s, for a short time, she played at the Cameri Theater. She lived in Tel Aviv until 1952, then she moved to Jerusalem, where she lives nowadays. TOVA BERLINSKI is the recipient of the 1963 Jerusalem Prize. From 1965 to 1984, she taught art: at The Popular University Beit HaAm, at Bezalel for adults, then privately in her studio. In 1974, she joined Kevutzat Aklim Group. From 1982 to 1984, she was a member of the Radius Group. Her works have been presented in France, Holland, Great Britain and the USA. In the year 2000, she received the Mordekhai Ish-Shalom prize for her life work and unique contribution to art. Her paintings will be shown in Poland for the first time.
