Rafal Jakubowicz ‘The Swimming Pool’ – A Multimedia Presentation


 

The Swimming Pool is a unique presentation is based on Jakubowicz’s multimedia memorial project at the Poznan synagogue, which was turned into a swimming pool by the Nazi Germans during WWII. He will be displaying his work at the Auschwitz Jewish Center on 26 February 2006 within the Conversations about Tolerance series.

Jakubowicz was born in 1974 in Poznan in northwest Poland. He is a graduate of the Fine Arts Academy in Poznan, department of Art Education (1999) and the department of Painting, Graphics and Sculpture (2000), and is currently a PhD Candidate in the department of History of Art at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. Since 2002 he has been a member of Wunderteam. Jakubowicz is the author of several publications in the artistic press, as well as a contributor to exhibition catalogues. Since 2005 he has been a member of AICA (Art International Critics Association).
