The Lost Shabbos

The Lost Shabbos was a presentation of work from Auschwitz Jewish Center’s four Student Scholars (2004) and took place on August 16th 2004. Jehanne Dubrow, a poet and Helene Fischman, an artist, created an installation of paintings, photography and prose in memory of the Jewish spirit, which thrived in Oswiecim for over 400 years. Maggie Wunnenberg, a historian, presented the findings of her summer research, which focused on the implications of nationality upon the experience of the Holocaust. And finally, Maria Mayo Robbins gave a presentation about the history of Jewish life in Oswiecim, past and present. The artwork is currently on display at the Auschwitz Jewish Center.
