TOVA BERLINSKI


 

nee Gusta Wolf, was born in Oswiecim in 1915 to Samuel and Gizela Wolf. She emigrated to Palestine in 1938, where she studied at the Bezalel Academy of Fine Arts in Jerusalem. She also studied in Paris under Andre Lhote and Henri Goetz.
Tova lived in Tel Aviv until 1952, when she moved to Jerusalem, where she lives currently. She is the recipient of the 1963 Jerusalem Prize for her artwork. From 1965 to 1984, Tova taught art in numerous positions, including at The University Beit Ha’Am, the Bezalel Academy, and privately in her studio. Her work has been presented in France, Holland, Great Britain and the USA.
In 2000, she received the Mordekhai Ish-Shalom prize for her life’s work and unique contribution to art.
Her paintings were shown in Poland for the first time in 2006.
